Hi, I’m Charlie. I work in IT and cybersecurity. I currently run the tech program at a financial services firm, where I’ve been since 2017. Before that, I was a systems and network engineer at a few MSPs, learning the hard way what happens when businesses treat technology as an afterthought.

These days, I’m focused on building systems that are resilient, purposeful, and genuinely serve the people who rely on them. I’m especially drawn to the evolving role of AI: not just what it can do, but what it might undo. As we automate more of our working lives, I worry about what’s lost when we strip away the parts of work that give people meaning and agency. So I’m learning everything I can, trying to stay close to the technology while keeping one eye on the human cost. I don’t have all the answers, but I want to make sure we’re asking the right questions before the momentum carries us past them.

This blog is a place for me to think out loud about what I’ve learned, what I’m still working through, and what’s worth paying attention to.

Outside of work, I’m a husband, dad to two wild and wonderful boys, and a gigging musician. I read a lot of nonfiction and build hi-fi audio systems. The best parts of my life don’t show up on a résumé… and none of it, personal or professional, would be possible without my wife, Brooke. She’s the steady force behind it all, and I’m so much better for walking through life with her.
